STUDIO ETIQUETTE
We understand that it can be intimidating to try something new without knowing what to expect.
Our goal is to make your experience at Yoga and Divine Movement as relaxing and stress free as possible. With this in mind we have listed below some things you should know before your first visit.
Before Class:
- Arrive 10 minutes before class begins, please do not be late.
- Have clean feet and be perfume/cologne free.
- Sign in at the front desk for class and pay before class begins.
- The only things that should go into the studio room with you are your mat, towel(s), and water.
- Leave your cell phone and valuables in your car.
During Class:
- Listen to instructions. Do not "do your own thing" unless permission is given. As long as you practice proper alignment, you will receive 100% benefit of the posture, no matter where you are starting from.
- Do your very best to stay in the yoga room. If an emergency requires you to leave, please gracefully leave and re-enter between postures.
- Practice stillness between postures.
- Focus on yourself and do not distract others.
- Work at your ability level, do not endanger yourself or others by taking up more than your fair share of space in Nia or by taking too advanced of a pose in yoga.
After Class:
- Leave the room respectfully.
- If you borrowed a mat or props, put them away.
- Enjoy the peace and energy you've created for yourself.
- Continue to drink plenty of purified water to washout the toxins and eat fresh, whole foods.
If it was your first class, take your second class within 24-72 hours.
What to Bring :
- Yoga mat*
- Towel (optional)
- Dress in cool comfortable clothes - such as sport bra, tank top, running shorts, etc. You do not need shoes or socks in any of our classes.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day so you're well hydrated before coming to class. Come with an empty stomach - wait at least one to two hours after a meal before taking a yoga class or come in the morning on an empty stomach.
*For your convenience, yoga mats are available to borrow or purchase at the studio.
In order to be effective, it is best yoga be practiced daily or on a regular basis with no long lapses of time between lessons. A minimum commitment of 10 lessons in 30 days is required if the student is to derive maximum benefit from our yoga. Do your best and come to class frequently.
